How do I make reservations?

Reservations can be made with a credit card by calling our box office at 303.297.2111 (1.877.IMPULS1 outside of Denver Metro area) or you can buy them online here . If you'd like to pay cash, or write a check, the tickets can also be purchased at our theater's box office located in the lower level of the Wynkoop Brewery.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $18 and there is a one drink minimum inside the theater (does not have to be alcohol).

Can I reserve tickets with my credit card then pay with cash or check at the door?

Yes. If you make reservations with your credit card you can pay with cash or check at the door the night of the performance. Your card will be charged beforehand but we will void the charge immediately after receiving alternate payment.

Do you have group discounts?

Yes. Groups of ten or more who make advance reservations will receive $16 tickets assuming the payment is handled with one transaction (groups of ten or more paying individually must pay the regular $18 admission price).  Note: Our group discount is suspended in December and the first two weekends of January.

Something came up, can we cancel our reservation?

If a situation prevents you from attending the performance for which you've purchased tickets please let us know as soon as possible.  With enough advance notice (i.e. if we have enough time to re-sell your tickets) we will be happy to change your tickets to a different date/time.

While we will make every effort to re-sell your tickets in this situation, we cannot guarantee that we will be successful.  In the event we cannot re-sell your tickets no refunds will be issued.

How do you assign seats?

Seating priority is determined by the order in which tickets are purchased.  Basically, the earlier you purchase tickets, the better your seats.  Please note however, that if you arrive later than 10 minutes prior to curtain we reserve the right to reassign your seating to minimize disruption to a performance in progress.

Can under 21 attend the show?

Minors can attend regular shows ONLY if they're accompanied by their own parent(s) or court appointed legal guardian.  However, we do occasionally stage "All Ages - No Alcohol" shows which can be attended by minors aged 13 and older without parental supervision.  Click here for a list of upcoming "All Ages - No Alcohol" shows.

Please note that this policy is in accordance with the City of Denver's Cabaret and Liquor License laws - we are not permitted to make exceptions.

What are your show times?

Impulse Theater performs Thursdays at 8PM, and Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30PM & 9:45PM.

When do your doors open?

Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime.  Please note that if you arrive later than 10 minutes prior to curtain, we reserve the right to reassign your seats in order to minimize disruptions to a performance in progress.

How many people do you seat?

Where is Impulse Theater Located?

We're located in Lower Downtown (LoDo) at 1634 18th Street inside the Wynkoop Brewing Co. (lower level). Our cross streets are 18th & Wynkoop. Need directions? Get them here

Are you and the Wynkoop the same business?

No. But we compliment each other nicely.

How long have you been in the Wynkoop?

We've been in the Wynkoop since 1993. Before that we were in Governor's Park for five years and we started at Maxwell's in Glendale in April, 1987 as Comedy Sports. We changed our name to Impulse Theater in 1998. We like our new name better.

Is your show really improvised?

Contrary to what some people might think, yes, our shows really are improvised. Nothing scripted, nothing rehearsed, no two shows the same. Besides, we'd get bored if it wasn't improvised, and we can't afford to pay "plants" to sit in the audience.

How do you compare to other improv shows in the area?

In short, we don't. Impulse Theater has been doing improv, and only improv, for over 20 years. We've been favorably compared to Second City, The Groundlings, and virtually every other nationally renowned improv comedy troupe you can think of.  We've performed over 5,000 shows at our theater as well as over 1,000 shows on the road. We're really good at improv.

Is your show clean?

We are committed to staging shows that are appropriate for all groups.  We will not cuss or use vulgar language or introduce gratuitously gross or offensive material.  That being said, we do deal with adult subject matter - however we do so in a tasteful, intelligent manner.  A movie-rating equivalent for our show would probably be PG-13.  We do not recommend the show for pre-teens.

When do you hold auditions?

Auditions are only held when positions become available. If you'd like to be on our audition email list send an email to boxoffice@impulsetheater.com with "Audition Email List" as the subject line. We'll contact you when they come up. In the meantime if you'd like to learn more about Impulse Theater's style of improv, be sure and check out our acclaimed workshop program here

Can we heckle?

Impulse Theater IS NOT a stand up comedy club. We are strictly improv, and while your suggestions are vital to the show you will be prompted for those suggestions at the appropriate times by the emcee. So no, you can't heckle.

For more on the subject, read this.

Can you incorpate something funny about my friend into the show?

Generally no. Customized and tailored scenes are reserved for private performances. However, we would be glad to recognize birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Just be sure to make the house manager aware of the special occasion the night of the performance.

What other services do you provide?

In addition to private and road performances, Impulse Theater also offers adult workshops, corporate workshops and practical jokes. Read more about these services by viewing the options under the "Services" tab at the top of this page.
